Anticipation of an increase in apple exports in 2019-2020

The president of the Union of Agricultural Exporters said:
Due to the early rains and current precipitation that is expected the amount of Apple production will be doubled while export will be increased about five times in comparison of 2017-2018.

Seyed Reza Nourani added:

As far as we concern, the amount of Apple production will be about 4 – 4.5 million tons this years.

also, that is expected about 1.5 million tons of Apple (worth around 1 billion USD) will be exported this year.
According to him, amount of the apple will be concentrated to use in juice industry and a part of that will be used as country’s fresh food or domestic consumption.
He added, because of the last year frustration about 2 million tons of Apple were produced and 200,000 tons were export(150 million USD in value) because of the low level of supply, price was increased in the country by the reason. But, two years later, we produced 3 million tons and exported 450 million USD.
The president of the Union of Agricultural Exporters stated:
The government shall provide proper infrastructure to export Apple if not, Iranian farmers will loose money because of over productivity and excessive supply and there is no way so, the government have to buy that from farmers and cultivators by a fixed price.
He said: we increase amount of production without proper marketing plans to find customers.
He added :
For the coming season there is no any incentive to export apple, but in 2017 the government let apple exports to barter apple with banana or they were benefited from 3000 IRR subsidy per each Kg of Apple which was exported by merchants.

Discarding a thousand tons of apple is harmful to national interests.

The head of the Exporters Union of Agricultural Products addressed about 1000 tons of Apples which are deposited in Damavand City and he added:
The government pay to much to supply the demand of new years but they must outsourcing that to producers and free market.
He said: whenever governments enter to control markets they are nothing more than and losers.

Neighbor’s export bans and the need for State Department intervention.

While we can find dynamic export markets in the region. especially، our neighbor countries those have good political relations with us, but they are subjected to new tariffs and restrictions on Iranian goods every day, including political issues, like Iraq imposed different tariffs on apples, tomatoes and onions.
